Astronomy & Space

A great web site for studying space! It includes links to facts about our solar system (and all planets), space puzzles and games, rocket information, and much more. Even discover how much you weigh and how old you would be on different planets!

This NASA web site for the HEASARC provides students, educators, and the general public informative material to learn more about the universe on topics ranging from the solar system to black holes to distant galaxies.

Great site that shows the phase of the moon for any day and year.

NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, which was launched and deployed by Space Shuttle Columbia on July 23, 1999, is the most sophisticated X-ray observatory built to date.  Chandra is designed to observe X-rays from high-energy regions of the universe, such as the remnants of exploded stars.

Research site for third graders studying space.

A nice site to see pictures of the evening skies as Venus and Jupiter are in relatively close proximity. There are other areas of this site that may be interesting to you as well.

A site devoted to the celebration of Space Day. Lots of areas, including Mission:Fun, Plan Your Space Day, Friends of Space Day, and Teacher's Space. Mission:Fun includes games and brain teasers that students would enjoy. Games require Shockwave to run.

Take a virtual tour of the planets through NASA's jet propulsion laboratory.

An interactive weather site for kids by Dan Satterfield, a Meteorologist in Alabama.  Learn about clouds, rain, snow, and other weather phenomena.

Learn what makes a rainbow, how they develop, about primary and secondary rainbows.

KIDSTORM is a web site where kids can get information, see pictures and graphics and find links on tornadoes, lightning, hurricanes and storm chasing.  It's author is Chris Kridler, a journalist and photographer at Florida Today, on the Space Coast of Florida.

Scholastic's Weather Watch site is a starting point for weather observations and investigations.

A weather education site especially for students, parents, kids and teachers from national TV meteorologist Nick Walker.  Listen to his "Musical Meteorology" songs about weather.  Mr. Walker can be seen on The Weather Channel.
